All Glory to the God of Hope
*“Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
It was early in the morning when the women went to the tomb. They were going to do the customary ritual of preparing the body of Jesus. Jesus had already been placed in the tomb due to the Sabbath, but now the women would get a chance to prepare the body with spices and perfumes as was the custom. The women knew a stone had been placed in front of the tomb and they wondered how they would remove the stone. They reached the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed and that the body of Jesus was not there. An angel was there to tell them Jesus is risen. And they fled to tell the disciples when Jesus appeared to them. Jesus told the women to go and tell the disciples to go and wait for Him to come to them at Galilee. (Matthew 28:1-10)
In other words, the disciples were to go to Galilee and wait for Jesus. It was time for them to be still and wait. We know this had to be hard for the disciples. The women told them Jesus was alive, but now you all have to go and wait for Him. Jesus will come to you in His time and now you have to wait. Just be still.
I think this is a lesson we can all learn. Sometimes in life we just have to be still and trust that Jesus is at work in our lives. We have to understand that our timing and our ways are not always His way, and His way is much better than ours. (Isaiah 55:8-9) I know that life has a way of throwing us a curve ball with troubles of all kinds, but it is important to know that those troubles are only for a little while and if we will only be still and trust that God has a plan for us, Jesus will certainly lead us through and make us stronger. (1 Peter 5:10)
The disciple’s world had been turned upside down and inside out. Jesus wanted them to be still and trust. So it is with us. In good times and bad, we are to trust in Jesus and know that He is Lord. We can cast all our fears upon Him and He will lead us. (1 Peter 5:7) Let us all BE STILL AND KNOW THAT HE IS GOD!!
